Your Counsellor

I’m Sara, a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk).

Until recently I worked for 19 years as Airline Cabin Crew, the last 14 being for a major U.K. airline. I now work as a self-employed Counsellor on a part time basis and also part time as a Wellbeing Co-ordinator in a nursing home.

Prior to becoming a Counsellor, as well as throughout my training and after qualifying I have also worked in the following roles, all on a voluntary basis:

* Community Support Worker with Victim Support, offering emotional and practical support via telephone and in person to victims of crime.

*Helpline Counsellor with Yellow Door (formerly Southampton Rape Crisis) taking calls to the helpline as well as administration tasks for initial assessments. (Student placement)

*Young persons Counsellor with Alabare, working with those aged 11-19. A service offered through a drop in centre and also extended to serve a local secondary school. (Student placement)

*Counsellor with The Olive Branch Counselling Service, offering up-to 12 months counselling for adults.

I love being by the sea, enjoy crafting and generally being creative and when I need to switch off a cuppa, good book and the cat curled on my lap works really well!
