I’m Sara, a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk).
Until very recently I worked for 19 years as Airline Cabin Crew, working on long haul flights and more recently on European routes. This meant working all kinds of shifts, from getting up at 2am to working through the night, being called out of bed to cover sickness and everything in between! It also meant meeting lots of new people every day and hearing some fascinating stories of other people’s travels.
During the later stages of those 19 years I also volunteered for Victim Support, completed my counselling training volunteering with a rape crisis charity and also a young persons service. I then gained further experience as a Volunteer Counsellor working with adults.
Counselling sessions have covered many things including counselling for anxiety, self harm, bereavement support, family relationships, low self esteem, suicidal thoughts, coping with stress, career changes and more. This work as well as my own personal experiences of bereavement, low mood, anxiety and low self esteem help me to broaden my knowledge, and develop my understanding of different issues.
I also have counselling myself whenever I feel that I need the confidential time and space to work through things which I am finding difficult.
In direct response to Covid-19 I have completed online training specifically regarding telephone and online sessions and continue to update my knowledge and skills on this.
I regularly undertake various training to enhance my knowledge and skills and fulfill BACP Membership requirements.
I am fully insured and DBS checked.
I love being by the sea, enjoy crafting and generally being creative and when I need to switch off a cuppa, good book and the cat curled on my lap works really well!
